YouTube's Shorts AI tools auto-disclose; your upload needs an answer
YouTube says clips made with its own generative tools are disclosed by the tool. A Sume-made MP4 uploaded later is not, so the AI use answer is yours.

YouTube's page on creating Shorts with AI-generated features lists tools such as green screen backgrounds, standalone clips of up to 10 seconds from text prompts and reference images, photo to video, and Make Me Move. It says creators using these tools "don't need to take extra steps to disclose", because the tool will automatically disclose the AI use.
What that does not cover
The sentence is about YouTube's own generative tools. A video file made elsewhere and uploaded through YouTube Studio arrives as an ordinary upload. The disclosure question (AI use, in the Attributes section during upload) is then yours to answer, using the criteria on the disclosure page.
Difference in one table
| Where the clip came from | Who discloses |
|---|---|
| YouTube's own generative AI tool in Shorts | The tool, automatically, per the page |
| MP4 made with Sume and uploaded in Studio | You, under AI use in Attributes |
| Filmed footage with captions and color | Nobody: exempt edits |
Regional note
The page says availability varies: some of these features are unavailable in the EEA, and photo to video and Make Me Move are also unavailable in the UK and Switzerland. A file-based flow does not depend on those in-app tools, but the disclosure rule still applies to what you upload.
Practical step
Add the disclosure decision to the hand-off step after your Timeline 1.0 render returns video_url. Whoever uploads the file should know whether it contains realistic generated shots.
