TikTok Shop's 5 non-interactive videos in 7 days limit and AI clips
TikTok Shop caps you at 7 videos for 7 days after 5 non-interactive or misleading ones, and the rule names AI content. What it means for AI product clips.

If you publish 5 or more non-interactive or misleading TikTok Shop videos within 7 days, TikTok Shop limits you to 7 Shop videos over the following 7 days, and any extra video publishes with its product link hidden. TikTok's seller policy page says this applies to AI-generated content too, so a batch of near-static AI product clips is the fastest way to hit it.
This post reads TikTok's Latest Policy Updates page on Seller University (read 2026-10-02). That page is marked deprecated and last updated 25 Jun 2026, and it is the PH seller site, so check your own market's Seller University before you plan around the numbers. It is the policy side only; the Sume side is Video captions and Video trim.
What exactly triggers the limit?
The page lists two kinds of problem video. Non-interactive videos are low quality, with no meaningful on-screen activity or real-time engagement. Misleading videos confuse or misinform viewers; the examples given are inconsistent product promotion, misleading functionality or effects, and sympathy-based promotions.
The threshold counts both kinds together: 5 or more within 7 days. The page gives an effective date of March 30, 2026, and a later entry dated April 24, 2026 says enforcement against non-interactive content was stepped up, with real-time verbal interaction prioritised.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Trigger | 5 or more non-interactive or misleading videos within 7 days |
| Effect | Up to 7 TikTok Shop videos in the following 7 days |
| Extra videos | Publish, but product links stay hidden |
| AI content | Rule applies to AIGC showing these behaviours |
| Effective date | March 30, 2026 (enforcement stepped up April 24, 2026) |
Is an AI product clip automatically non-interactive?
No. The page defines the problem by what is on screen, not by how the clip was made. An AI clip with a clear product demonstration is not what the rule describes; an AI clip that is a slow zoom on a still is closer to it. TikTok does not publish a pixel or motion threshold, so Sume cannot tell you whether a given clip would be counted, and nothing in Sume's docs predicts that.
Separately, TikTok's AI-generated content rules for Shop (US page, dated 09/02/2026) say AI must not alter product specifications such as size, color, material, quantity or features. A clip can pass the interaction test and still be misleading.
How do I avoid a batch tripping the limit?
The practical lever is volume and variety, which you control before publishing. Cap how many clips of one type go out in a rolling 7 days, and review each against the two definitions above.
Sume does the preparation steps, not the judgment. Trim dead seconds so the product is on screen from the first frame, then burn captions so what is said is visible:
- Cut the idle lead-in with
POST /v1/video-trim(startplusduration); it costs $0.02 per job and keeps the source untouched. - Burn spoken-word captions with
POST /v1/video-captions($0.20 per job for clips up to 60 seconds), which needs audible speech or authoredcues. - Both run as jobs; poll
GET /v1/jobs/:id/statusas described in Jobs and results.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-trim \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: shop-trim-001" \
-d '{"video_url":"https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/product.mp4","start":1.5,"duration":20}'What does Sume not do here?
Sume does not post to TikTok Shop, does not read your posting-limit state, and cannot check a clip against TikTok's classifier. It also cannot add on-camera interaction that is not in the footage. If the footage is a still with a pan, trimming and captions will not make it interactive.
Keep a record of what you published each week yourself. The limit is per account and per rolling window, which only TikTok can see.
