Seedance 2.5 clips: plan fee vs pay-per-use, break-even by volume
At full use Luma Plus is $1.17 per 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip and Pika Creator $1.36; Sume bills $2.89 a clip on top of its $40 Pro plan. Break-even math.

On unit price alone, a vendor plan wins for Seedance 2.5 if you fill it. A 5-second 720p clip costs about $1.17 on Luma Plus and $1.36 on Pika Creator when every credit is used, against about $2.89 of Sume usage, and Sume's pricing page lists video generation models on its $40 Pro plan. Sume only comes out ahead where you would otherwise leave a plan mostly empty, or where you already pay for Pro and are deciding whether a second plan is worth it: that break-even is about 10 clips a month against Luma Plus.
This is cost math on one clip, not a verdict on either product. Plans also sell editors, libraries and commercial terms that a per-job API does not.
What does one 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip cost on each side?
Luma lists Seedance 2.5 text-to-video at 720p for 78 credits a second, so a 5-second clip is 390 credits. Pika lists Seedance 2.5 at 720p for 5 seconds at 122 credits. Sume's Video Router bills provider list times 1.25 on every model, which works out to $0.5778 a second for Seedance 2.5 at 720p in 16:9, or about $2.89 for 5 seconds.
| Plan | Monthly fee | Credits | Whole clips a month | Cost per clip at full use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luma Plus | $30 | 10,000 | 25 | $1.17 |
| Luma Pro | $90 | 40,000 | 102 | $0.88 |
| Luma Ultra | $300 | 150,000 | 384 | $0.78 |
| Pika Starter | $10 | 900 | 7 | $1.36 |
| Pika Creator | $35 | 3,150 | 25 | $1.36 |
| Sume usage (video models listed on the $40 Pro plan) | $40 plan fee | USD balance | as many as you fund | $2.89 on top of the fee |
Where is the break-even point?
There are two readings. If you are choosing one tool for this job, Sume's total is $40 plus $2.89 a clip, which stays above Luma Plus ($30 for up to 25 clips) and Pika Creator ($35 for up to 25) at every volume those plans cover. If you already pay for Sume Pro for the API or agent and are asking whether to add a second plan just for clips, divide the second plan's fee by $2.89.
| Second plan | Fee | Break-even clips a month | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pika Starter | $10 | 3.5 | Fewer than 4 clips: Sume usage is cheaper |
| Luma Plus | $30 | 10.4 | Fewer than 11 clips: Sume usage is cheaper |
| Pika Creator | $35 | 12.1 | Fewer than 13 clips: Sume usage is cheaper |
| Luma Pro | $90 | 31.2 | Fewer than 32 clips: Sume usage is cheaper |
| Luma Ultra | $300 | 103.8 | Fewer than 104 clips: Sume usage is cheaper |
What does the break-even leave out?
Three things move the line. First, retakes: if you keep one clip in three, divide every per-clip number by that keep rate before comparing. A plan pools retakes into a fixed fee, while pay-per-use bills each attempt.
Second, plan credits are a monthly allowance. Check each vendor's rollover rule before you count unused credits as savings. Third, Pika's page says the Free and Starter plans carry no commercial license, so Starter's $1.36 clip may not be an option for client work.
A fourth point runs the other way. The break-even assumes one model. Sume's catalog lets you switch the model id per request on one balance, so a month of mixed Seedance, Wan and H3 Max drafts does not need three plans.
How do I check the Sume number for my own clip?
The Video Router docs state the list times 1.25 margin, and GET /v1/videos/models returns the catalog. For Seedance, price scales with tokens, which depend on resolution, aspect ratio and duration, so a 9:16 clip or a 10-second clip will not be a simple multiple of the 16:9 figure above. For the per-second rates at 480p, 720p and 1080p, see Seedance 2.5 price per second on Sume.
For a month with real volume, add the plan fee to the usage. What a month on Sume Pro costs walks through three workloads.
So which one should I pick?
If you make a steady 25 or more Seedance clips a month on one model and nothing else, a Luma or Pika plan is cheaper per clip on these pages. If your volume swings, you need an API, or you already carry Sume Pro, usage billing keeps you from paying for idle credits. Run your own clip count through the second table before you commit.
