How many stock AI avatars do vendors list? Pages read Oct 2026
Vendors list 9 to 1,500 stock avatars by plan. Sume has no avatar-count tiers: it creates one for $0.95 and its catalog search returns up to 100 results.
Vendor pages list between 9 and 1,500 stock avatars depending on the plan: Synthesia 9 on Basic up to 240+ on Enterprise, HeyGen 500 stock on Free and 700 on paid plans, Colossyan 300+ on all plans, Creatify 300 to 1,500 actors, Tavus 25 stock replicas on Basic. Sume lets you create your own for $0.95 and search its catalog up to 100 results per request.
The counts
These are as worded on each page and are not like for like: a stock avatar, an actor and a replica are different objects.
| Vendor | Plan | Listed count |
|---|---|---|
| Synthesia | Basic / Starter / Pro / Enterprise | 9 / 125+ / 180+ / 240+ |
| HeyGen | Free / Creator and up | 500 stock / 700 stock |
| Colossyan | all plans | 300+ stock avatars |
| Creatify | Starter / Pro | 300 / 1,500 actors |
| Tavus | Basic / Growth | 25 / 100+ stock replicas |
What Sume does instead
Sume does not sell a plan tier by avatar count. You can create an avatar from a prompt, structured traits or a reference image at a flat $0.95, per the create avatar guide, then call it by handle. 20 avatars cost $19.00.
To browse the catalog, the API's avatar search takes a text query, a limit of 1 to 100 (default 20), a mode of search or explore, and filters such as language and use case. Read the live OpenAPI for the current catalog size, since I have not counted it and will not quote a figure.
How to choose
A bigger library helps when you need a face for a role fast. It matters less when your brand needs one recurring presenter. In that case the question is not how many stock faces exist but how well one avatar holds up across clips.
For one presenter across a campaign, create the avatar once, run a short test clip, and keep the handle. That is $0.95 plus a few dollars of test seconds, not a plan upgrade.
Check the licence too
A stock avatar belongs to the vendor, and the licence decides where you can use it. Read the commercial terms before you build a brand around a shared face, since another company may use the same one. A face you create yourself avoids that overlap, as long as you hold the rights to any reference image.
