19 Omni jobs or 7 Wan jobs: Timeline render strategy for 181 s
A 181-second Reel is 7 Wan clips or 19 Omni clips. Timeline render.strategy auto chunks past 12 segments and single is refused above 12.

The model you pick for the clips decides the clip count, and the clip count decides how the Timeline renders. Timeline 1.0 has a render.strategy field: auto (the default, chunks past 12 segments), chunked, or single. Sume refuses single above 12 slots with render_strategy_unsafe.
Clips and strategy
Counts are from the even split of 181 seconds in the planner post.
| Model | Clips | Auto | single |
|---|---|---|---|
| wan-3.0 or seedance-2.5 | 7 | one render | allowed |
| kling-3 | 13 | chunked | refused |
| sume/auto (Omni) | 19 | chunked | refused |
What to send
Leave strategy on auto. You only need to know that a long list of short clips is rendered in chunks, and that sending single with 13 or more slots returns render_strategy_unsafe. See the render strategy post.
Count is not cost
Fewer, longer clips is not automatically better. The price of 181 seconds on Wan and Omni is the same at 720p ($22.63), so choose by how many shots you want to control.
